Church Activities

The Salvation Army is an international Christian church that serves in more than 130 countries worldwide focusing on worship, Christian education, and other congregational activities, as well as providing practical assistance to their communities.

Our churches embrace families and individuals of all ages, gender, race, beliefs, sexuality, abilities or wealth. We seek to be totally inclusive, removing all barriers to church life so that everyone has the chance to reach their full God-given potential.

The Salvation Army church is a place to connect, develop your knowledge of God through solid Bible teaching, and find support when you need help. Our churches also seek to recognize and reflect the cultural diversity of our nation and aim to make worship and activities relevant to the demographic of the local community and congregation.

We are a Bible believing, evangelical church that attends to your spiritual and practical needs.

In St. Albert our worship services are Sunday mornings at 11:00.

Our Bible Study groups have been making their way through the Bible beginning with Genesis 1:1.  We are currently working through Matthew, the first book of the New Testament.

We meet on Wednesday of each week at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm to study God’s word through focused reading and discussion.  Yes, we have room for you.

What is Messy Church?

If you've seen banners or posters advertising a Messy Church near you but you're not sure what it's all about, here is where you can find out more and how you can get involved.

Messy Church is for families who are looking for a church experience that is a whole lot different from the 'sit & listen' atmosphere that we sometimes imagine church to be. Each messy Church explores a biblical theme through hands-on creative experiences, stories, celebration and a meal.

Messy Church creates a church community that is sometimes, well, messy! That means we can get messy with paint and glue and other creative stuff, and it means we can get messy in being part of a church setting that has less structure and more fun.

What happens at Messy Church?
Messy Church will have fun activities for parents and children to do together. Then there will time to worship God before everybody shares food.  It’s a chance to find out more of God’s stories and grow together as God’s family.

Activities generally include a variety of arts and crafts and the worship will be a mixture of tradition and fun and geared to children.

We don’t have to be perfect when we come to church – our kids’ hair can be uncombed, they can make noise, we can be sad or anxious or lonely or perfectly fine.  At Messy Church we explore our wonderfully creative God through being creative.

When Is Messy Church?
Usually, our Messy Church happens on the 4th Friday of every month from September to June (except for December) right at The Salvation Army in St. Albert (see the address at the top of the page).

Who Is Messy Church For?
Messy Church is for all ages.  Seriously, it’s a family affair. We have had toddlers to grandparents and kids with special needs, too. You are welcome… period.  The parents and carers aren’t just there to supervise – they’re there to worship and come closer to God and growing in faith.  Going to church doesn’t have to mean being separated from your children. You can experience the excitement of worshiping as a family with other families.
